Worship at Covenant

Covenant's worship is rooted in the Reformed tradition. We value the richness and beauty of 2,000 years of liturgy and music, and we recognize that a church that is guided by the Holy Spirit will always be a church that speaks to the world today.

Someone once described Covenant's worship as "formal informality". There's a wonderful mix of worshippers, wearing everything from jeans to furs, who truly enjoy each other and being together for worship. Children are encouraged to participate in the service in age-appropriate ways, and the youth are actively involved in leading worship. One can feel the spirit at work in the services, not evidenced with raised hands and shouts, but in the love and care exhibited among the members and reaching beyond the walls of the sanctuary.

Observing the Lord's Day in worship is at the heart of a congregation's life together. In addition to Sunday mornings, Covenant has other services throughout the year:

  • During the seasons of Advent and Lent/Easter/Pentecost, Covenant will often celebrate with services that may include special music or liturgy, sanctuary paraments that have been made by the children of the church, or other appropriate ways of observing the season.
  • We support the Lenten disciplines of our members through brief but meaningful services each Wednesday night during Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday.
  • And, for one summer Sunday each year, Covenant moves to Rotary Park for a time of casual worship, picnic, and play.

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
